A World of Sighs for mixed chorus (2010) weaves together texts from different characters in William Shakespeare's play,
Othello. "Willow," the song Desdemona sings just moments before her death, is set against Othello's words of love for his wife, as well as the scheming interjections of Iago. The willow tree traditionally symbolizes disappointed love, while the sycamore represents dejected lovers.
