Luna di seta
for Alto Flute
Andrea Reinkemeyer (Bangkok, Thailand - 2012)
Luna di seta (2012) for alto flute, was inspired by the strikingly beautiful and elusive Luna Moth (actias luna). The form of this piece loosely follows its life as a caterpillar, which must pass through five instars before metamorphosis and maturity. Does the earth-bound caterpillar dream of flight?
Many thanks to Melanie Sorenson and Brian Amer for their artistic support.
Luna di seta will be included in Nina Assimakopoulos's project,
The Flutist's Field Guide to Birds, Insects and Flowers of the World.
